President's Letter

Dear Members,

This is the third monthly President’s Letter to inform you of the activities taking place at AHA. The two previous letters are on our website.

Since the last letter, here is an update on our activities:

• Taryl O’Shea has been with AHA for 7 weeks now and making wonderful progress reducing spending and increasing programs to drive membership, among other things.
• Kelly Huston is retiring as of today, June 30. She has worked in Registration Services for 24 years. We will miss her greatly! Thank you for everything Kelly!
• We completed our third Listening Session. The subject was on how to retain and increase membership. Many great ideas were shared including expanded membership categories and increasing member benefits.
• The USEF ad hoc committee is working on a resolution to mandate certain requirements between the AHA and the USEF in their affiliate agreement. The concept is broadly supported by the Board. We are working on language that all can agree on.
• The Board is committed to upgrading AHA’s use of technology to improve customer service and this includes a new platform called Innately, that will enable us to register horses online. We are in the late stages of negotiations. More to come shortly.
• For the next 90 days our new CEO, Taryl O’Shea, will work with the Board to prioritize our immediate initiatives. By fall, we will develop a strategic plan that will involve the least amount of effort with the highest amount of impact to begin growing our community.
• The Board plans to have an in-person meeting in August to begin that process.
